Doula Directory

Doulas play a critical role in fulfilling the vision of a community where all families have resources to thrive during pregnancy, birth and parenting.  Research shows that families that have doulas at their birth have better outcomes.   ACOG supports the use of doulas and their critical role in improving birth outcomes.

Better Beginnings is not currently offering any doula services.  However, we want to make sure you are able to connect with a doula that is the right fit for you.  The doulas below are not associated with Better Beginnings in any way and we can not verify their competence.  We encourage you to set up in person meetings with several doulas, to ensure you find the right fit for you.   Here is a great list of questions to ask at your meeting.

Published data indicate that one of the most effective tools to improve labor and delivery outcomes is the continuous presence of support personnel, such as a doula. A Cochrane meta-analysis of 12 trials and more than 15,000 women demonstrated that the presence of continuous one-on-one support during labor and delivery was associated with improved patient satisfaction and a statistically significant reduction in the rate of cesarean delivery.
